Supercharge your brand with image recognition from YouScan's AI
YouScan can now help you find mentions of your brand on social media, even if the only thing that gives away your brand affiliation is your logo.
This innovative technology has been in the works for a while now - we started demonstrating the process of image analysis and logo recognition at various business lunches about a year ago. But there was still a lot of work to be done in order to be ready to utilize resource-heavy artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) recognition algorithms on an industrial scale, and to maintain a high level of precision in these tasks.
How does it work?
In order to analyze mentions of your brand logo, you need to create a special stream where mentions of the specified topic will be grouped by image instead of text. Working with this stream won't be much different than working with a text mention stream; however, you will be relying more on the "Gallery" view to browse through your mentions. The logo will be highlighted with an orange rectangle in each photo.
In addition to logos, YouScan can identify the context of the image, like other objects present in the photo (people, animals, etc.) and the setting (whether it was taken on the street, in a bar, out in nature, etc.) You can filter the image gallery by object or setting, and sort your analytics reports according to these parameters.
What purposes does this tool serve?
Let's examine a few use cases to illustrate how YouScan can help you gain unique customer insights, and help plan, execute and evaluate marketing campaigns.
Your brand sponsors a public event, a sporting event or a sports team
Your logo is featured on the players' uniforms, as well as outfits worn by judges, coaches and fans; the logo is also displayed on banners around the stadium and in other prominent places. You're trying to improve brand recognition, since it'll be seen not only by fans attending the game in person, but also by a huge online audience who will encounter photos with your logo on social media.
In order to be able to objectively evaluate the effectiveness of your sponsorship activities, it's important to understand a few things, such as: which online audiences can see your logo; the context in which they're seeing it; what kind of engagement the content featuring your logo receives on social media; and the prevalent sentiment of that content.
You want to gain a better understanding of the context in which your product is featured
If you run a big consumer brand, then it's crucial that you understand where and how your brand appears in your customers' daily lives in order to run effective ad campaigns. No sociological surveys or focus groups can give you the kind of information you get from social media image analysis. How often is your product used at home, outdoors, or on the street? What other objects appear in the same shot as your product? Do these surroundings change over time? Do any of these factors impact your ad campaigns? There is no limit to the potential insights gained from image analysis.
Users review your brand without using words
Nowadays, users don't have to write a review of your brand to express their opinion of it - all they have to do instead is share an image of your product on their social media profiles as an endorsement. Now, you have a unique capacity to find these "implicit" mentions of your brand, and leverage the power of robust analytics of YouScan's monitoring system.
